Edith was born November 7, 1925 in Panguitch, Utah to James Leo and Della Huffaker Hatch. She grew up in Panguitch, Utah. After high school, she moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah. Edith served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Eastern States, then returned to the University of Utah where she met Ralph T Marchant, her eternal companion. She received a BA in Home Economics Education and taught school in Monticello, Utah. \r\n\r\nEdith enjoyed serving in both ward and stake positions of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She particularly enjoyed serving others as a Compassionate Service leader for more than 20 years.\r\n\r\nEdith’s life was dedicated to selfless service. She raised five children, took care of her parents and mother-in-law in their later years, provided hospice for her brother Delos in his last year, and cared for Ralph as he declined.\r\n\r\nMom has a strong testimony of God’s Plan of Happiness and lived her life in harmony with those principles. Her family is her greatest joy. \r\n\r\nShe was the grandmother who got down on the floor with children and played any game of their choice. If you knew Edith, you knew that you were important to her. Whether you were a close relative, or a friend or an acquaintance, there was always a bed available, and a hot meal just minutes away.\r\n\r\nEdith is survived by children, Sheralene Marchant; Pam (Daniel) Gomez; Brent (Irene) Marchant; James (Marilyn) Marchant; Barbara (Boyd) Silversmith; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; sisters Della Farnsworth and Marylin Dahlstrom. Preceded in death by husband Ralph, daughter Michelle, brothers Lloyd and James Delos.\r\n\r\nWe are grateful to Visiting Angels and hospice for the sweet gentle care and love they gave our mother. \r\n\r\nFuneral services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S.
