Edith Scott

–

Lehi, Utah

Edith Louise Scott, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at 85 on December 27, 2023, in Lehi, Utah. Born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, to Dorothy June Henry Brown and William Thompson Brown, Edith was the eldest of three children, including siblings Leo, Richard, and Asenath.

Edith’s childhood in South Philadelphia was marked by her mischievous yet caring nature. She had a knack for both playful pranks and generous acts, like sharing her dresses with less fortunate children. Her early years set the foundation for her lifelong commitment to family and community.

In 1955, Edit met Deano Vlahos, and they married in 1957, beginning a family with their children James, Steven, and Cheryl. After parting ways with Deano due to differing values, Edith found love again with Norm Scott, blending their families and welcoming adopted sons Robert and Christopher. Their home was a haven for 45 foster children over the years, reflecting Edith’s deep compassion.

A turning point came in 1979 when Edith and her daughter Cheryl joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, marking a new chapter of faith and service. Edith was active in her church, from selecting hymns to leading the Relief Society, and cherished her time as a temple recorder.

Edith’s legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. Her life was a testament to the power of love and family, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Edith will be joining her son, Robert, beyond the veil. She is survived by her husband Norm, her children James, Steven, Clinton, Doug, Cheryl, Linda and Christopher, as well as 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Edith’s funeral services will be on January 20, 2024. Visitation at 10:00 am and the service will be at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 828 South Center Street, Lehi, Utah 84043
