Edmund (Ted) Moses Ludlow Jr. Obituary (1911 - 2007)

Ted Ludlow, 95, was born December 16, 1911 to Edmund Moses Ludlow and Ella Nora Christensen Ludlow in Salt Lake City. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday June 4, 2007 in Sandy Utah. He married the love of his life, Lida Reese on November 28, 1930 and they were inseparable and enjoyed 74 happy years together before she passed away in February 2005. For the last two and a half years Ted longed to be reunited with Lida and today there must be a very happy reunion on the other side. They were members of the Willow Creek Country Club for many years where they loved to play golf as often as they could. Ted started working in the grocery industry in his early teens and made it his lifetime occupation. In 1940 he purchased his first store, Garden Park Market and in 1957 he purchased Canyon Rim AG. During his years in the grocery business he served as president of the Salt Lake City Grocers Association and also the Utah State Grocers Association where he worked closely with his good friend, the late Sherman P Lloyd. Ted was a man of great integrity and was honest in all his dealings. In 1959 Ted noticed a suspicious man coming out of Valley State Bank and he wrote down his license number. The man had just robbed the bank and was apprehended in just one hour. Ted received a personal letter of thanks from the director of the FBI, J. Edgar Hoover. He is survived by his two sons, Donald R. (Joy) Ludlow, Salt Lake City and Jerry Wayne (Virginia) Ludlow, Cody Wyoming. Two brothers, Marvin Ludlow and Roy Ludlow. Eight grand children and twenty one great grand children. He was preceded in death by his wife Lida, his parents, a brother, Gene Ludlow and an older sister who died at birth. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2007 from 11:00-12:00 noon at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, 4760 South State, Murray, Utah. Interment and family graveside services will be held at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3104 South Highland Drive at 12:30 p.m. under the direction of Jenkins-Soffe. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Wentworth at Willow Creek for the loving care and attention they gave Ted the last two and a half years.
