Salt Lake City, UT
“Look At Us Now”I was born August 27, 1925 in Paragonah, Iron County, Utah. My parents are Catherine Jones Robb and William Milton Robb. I am the seventh child of a family of eight. I lived in Paragonah for 18 years. I went to grade school in Paragonah and then to high school in Parowan. After high school, I moved to Cedar City, Utah where I began working as a telephone operator for the telephone company. We later moved to Salt Lake and I worked at Hill Field. After World War II was over, I found a job as a telephone operator in Wendover, Utah.Wendover, Utah was where I met my husband, Harold Columbus Wallace. Wally was a great guy and lots of fun. We married on August 9, 1946 in Elko, Nevada. After Wally and I married, we lived in Wendover until April of 1947. Wally was out of the Air Force and working for Civil Service and after several years, he was promoted to Assistant Operations Officer. We lived in Alamogordo, New Mexico for several years and when Wally’s father took sick and died we moved to Tennessee to help care for Wally’s mother. After 40 years of marriage, Wally became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and one of our greatest joys was when we were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple, by President James E. Faust. Wally died on August 14, 1998. At Wally’s death I moved back to Utah to live near my family. I bought a house on Milcrest Road. I enjoy it here. The family is great and the mountains are beautiful. Wally and I didn’t have children. We had three miscarriages, which was tragic, but I enjoy the children of both sides of the family. There are a lot of beautiful little ones and I enjoy them all. I love my family. I have enjoyed my life. (Taken from a personal history written by Ella in June 2009)Ella Robb Wallace finished her work here on the earth, Sunday, January 10, 2010. Her death was the result of injuries from a fall in her home. Ella left no posterity of her own but a legacy of service and love to the posterity of her brothers and sisters, neighbors and friends. To many she was known as “the fudge lady”. To others, a lifesaver as they opened mail to find a $20 bill and many were the recipients of her fun, in the form of a stuffed animal that just happened to sing. Oh how we who remain, will miss this wonderful Aunt Ella! She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; as well as brothers, Charles, Ivan and Myles Robb; sisters, Mabel Robinson, Florence Miller and Sara Murie.Ella was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has loved her ward members and neighbors in both Salt Lake and Big Rock, Tennessee. Her family wishes to thank the caregivers at the Orchard Cove Orthopedic Rehab in Bountiful, Utah for their most kind and loving care of Ella.Ella is survived by one sibling, Kathryn Robb Smith (John “Roger”); two sister-in-laws, Vivian Robb (Ivan) and Mildred Wallace (Grant); and oh so many nieces and nephews who love her dearly.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mt. Olympus 4th Ward, 4176 South Adonis Dr. (3930 East) under the direction of Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church and Saturday morning from 9:00-9:45 a.m., also at the church. Burial will follow in the Paragonah Cemetery, Paragonah, Utah, Iron County.Ella loved her flowers, but she loved the missionaries even more. In lieu of flowers a contribution to the Missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is suggested.
