Jean Thomas, daughter of Eugene Jones and Bernice Gulbrandsen lived an honorable, exemplary life. As the eldest, Jean acted as both big sister, mother, and generous caretaker to her beloved sisters, JoAnn and Sherie. \r\n\r\nThough she was a Murray girl, she attended the old Jordan High. She began employment with the State shortly after graduation, and ultimately retired from the Utah Retirement Office after climbing the ladder to success and serving as Personnel Director over a 35-year career. She shared a great companionship with URS director Leonard McDonald, and was an esteemed supervisor, mentor, and a savvy accountant. She was generous with her affection and her purse strings.\r\n\r\nShe married James Glavas and had son, Jim, whom she treasured. She later married Homer Thomas, the love of her life. They enjoyed worldwide travel and boating at Flaming Gorge. Her greatest joy in the world was her grandson Tony, who became her ultimate caretaker after Homer passed. Jean’s final years were shared with live-in overseers Holli, Sue, and daughter-in-law Judy who offered love and comfort. Jean is survived by son, Jim (Judy); sister, Sherie Wallace (Mike); grandson, Tony; and many nieces and nephews who treasured her beyond measure. Her legacy lives on through her generous spirit; our hearts are eternally blessed by her kindness and model of decency. \r\n \r\nFuneral services will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2018, 1:30 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St., Murray, with a viewing held prior from 12:00-1:15 p.m. Interment: Holladay Memorial Park.
