Los Lunas, NM
Elsa Nilsen Archuleta came into the world on a blustery Wednesday in
Chicago on the last day of October in 1917. She was the only daughter of
Norwegian immigrants Rudolph Nilsen and Betsy Jensen. As a kid she would
run through the tall grass and swim in the ponds of what was the
outskirts of Chicago.
It was on a silver-gray Wednesday she left Sandy
Utah, having succumbed to the frailties of old age. Her husband of 60
years, many of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were
able to surround her bed during the last week of her life and they all
had a chance to express their love and wishes goodbye. Her zest for
reading and traveling permitted her to enjoy the sights and wonders of
the world.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest (Los Lunas, NM), daughter Bette
Cook (Jim Bunger, Salt Lake City), James Campbell (Tani, Mesa Arizona),
Michael Archuleta (Joanne, Draper, Utah), 14 grandchildren, 26 great
grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her
daughter Wilma Huebner.
Services will be held Saturday, February 20, 11:00 A.M. at Jenkins-Soffe
South Valley on 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. Friends
may come to the viewing at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service.
Last, and not least,
the family wishes to give special recognition to the countless angels who watched
over Mom from Sunrise of Sandy Assisted Living and Good Shepherd Hospice.
