Elsa Helen Johansen Wells, age 88, passed away December 11, 2012 at home in Salt Lake City. Born June 29, 1924, in Salt Lake City to Andreas Johan and Augusta Mathilde (Zabell) Johansen. \n\nFollowing her mother’s death in 1948, Elsa and her father served simultaneous LDS missions in Denmark where Elsa served as translator for L. Garrett Meyers as he negotiated with the Lutheran Church leaders for permission to microfilm their ecclesiastical records for the Church Genealogical Society, of which Brother Meyers was superintendent. She also served as mission president of both the Young Women and Primary organizations. She served in all LDS Church stake and ward auxiliaries. She worked at the LDS Genealogical Society prior to her marriage on June 28, 1954, in the Salt Lake Temple to Jerry Duane Wells.\n\nTwo of their six children, Mary and David, died as infants and have been waiting to greet her. She is survived by her husband, children: Lois (Richard) Bobo, Elsa Quist, and Joseph (Tacy) Wells, all of Utah County and Samuel (Kathy) Wells, Fresno, CA; 18 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. \n\nFuneral Services will be conducted Monday, December 17, at 11:00 a.m. in the Nibley Park Ward chapel, 2450 South 600 East, Salt Lake City. Interment will be at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive. Friends may call Sunday, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, or Monday one hour prior to the service.
