Riverton, Utah
Emily Rose Scott was the life of the party from day one. Born in Provo, Utah, to Bradley and Erlyn Barlocker, She was the second oldest of 7 children. Practically inventing the term "wild child,” she got into all sorts of silly shenanigans with her partner in crime, her big brother Jake. Having moved around often, they were the dynamic duo from state to state, with the family finally settling down in Riverton, Utah.
During her teenage years, Emily volunteered in the Labor and delivery unit at the local hospital. On any given day you could find Emily hanging with Jake and her other friends, attending concerts, snowboarding, working her job at Victoria’s Secret, and eating Taco Bell. She also competed in the Miss Riverton Pageant, winning the title of 2nd Runner Up and earning her a tiara and spot on the float. Emily was fully in her element while getting dolled up to perform at the local festivals and waving like a princess to the crowds.
When Emily was 20 and scrolling through HotorNot.com, she came across an amusing picture of a man that caught her eye. A year later, Emily and Jared were married in May of 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. After a short stint in Ohio and lots of traveling, the couple moved to Camarillo, California where Emily graduated with her Bachelor's degree in Sociology. While working at the local Boys and Girls Club, they had their first child, Ryan. Tyler, their second born, came a few years later. After moving back to Herriman, Utah, she gave birth to their daughter, Kenley.
Emily thrived in motherhood. From a closet packed to the brim with crafts and puzzles to the most fun dance parties equipped with glow paints, glow sticks, and disco balls. She took her mothering very seriously, pushing aside any professional ambitions and becoming a full-time stay-at-home mom. She even cooked when necessary. Emily mostly stuck to what she was good at -- creating the most unique and endearing illustrations, avidly reading any true story/social economics book she could find, keeping a beautiful home, and teaching her kids how to be awesome. Full of energy, laughs, and an attitude that was always down for a good time, she showed her kids how to have fun, stand up for themselves, and how to be a good person.
After a divorce from Jared in 2020, Emily took to spending as much time as possible outdoors. While camping in the mountains, she could easily be found with a small speaker playing music while she chilled in her camp chair.
Emily is survived by her three children, Ryan Scott, Tyler Scott, and Kenley Scott, as well as her father, Bradley Barlocker (Jan), brothers Jake Barlocker (Francy), Matthew Barlocker (Stephanie), and Daniel Barlocker (Erika), sisters Megan Swenson, Rachel Barlocker, and Sara Arend (Alek), co-parent Jared Scott, nephews Thomas Cristancho, Aiden Barlocker, Jackson Barlocker, Noah Barlocker, Franz Swenson, Rainer Swenson, Canyon Arend, and Tommy Arend, nieces Brooke Barlocker, Laura Barlocker, Addison Barlocker, Kate Barlocker, and Millie Arend, and grandfather Dennis Barlocker (Luana) and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
