“Grandpa Holly”Frank Arthur Birch, Jr., 92, passed away on January 19, 2011 in his home surrounded by his loving family and his be-loved dog, Buffy Jo. He was born on March 12, 1918 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to Frank A. and Hattie Birch. He later relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah and married his sweetheart, Elna (McReynolds) in 1979. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre where he received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He worked at Swift Inc. for many years and later at A&R Meats and EIMCO. He loved to shop, read, camp, golf, and tease his grandchildren.He is survived by his step-children, Ed McReynolds (Jeanette), Blaketta (Blakie) Allen (Ashley),\n Cindy McReynolds (Lee), Jodi Dipo (Don). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, their spouses, and twenty-five great grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his wife, Elna Birch, great-grandson, Roscoe Ashley Allen III, sister, Nadine Biermann, and his beloved dog Holly Dog.Grandpa was lovingly cared for in his home by his granddaughter, Nicole Dipo, and her fiancé, Martin Ramirez.Special thanks to Lucero (Lou) at Danville Support Services for her two year dedication to his care and to \nCare Source Hospice for their support.Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Mortuary, (10600 S. 1007 W. South Jordan, UT), where friends and family may call Saturday one hour before services¬. Internment will be in the West Jordan City Cemetery.
