I was born to Clinton “Glen” and Neva Saxton Cheney in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 4, 1939. \n\nI retired in 2005 as Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors after 41 years service with Sentinel Security Life Insurance Company. During my career, I had the pleasure of working with a fine group of employees and formed many good relationships with many other professionals which I thoroughly enjoyed. I owe a great debt of gratitude to many people that were an important part of the Company, but I must offer a special thanks to Thomas W. Bartlett for the many years he and I served as officers. He was and, still is a good friend. \n\nOn May 17, 1994, I had the fortune to marry the love of my life, Teddy Staker, we were able to form a rewarding relationship that embellishes all that is important to happiness through understanding, love, sharing and the desire to spend quality time with each other. We loved to travel (especially cruising) and were fortunate to share many wonderful experiences. Teddy has qualities for a relationship that make me wonder how or why I was so lucky to have her for my partner. She always understood how to make life worth the goodness it can be. I’m only sad that we couldn’t have had more time to continue our enjoyment of life together. I appreciate her family, especially Jan and Rick Wester, Margaret and Mike Croley, David and Connie Staker who welcomed me into their lives and made me feel like their brother.\n\nI am survived by my wife, Teddy, daughter, Sharon Rust, son, David Cheney, brother, Craig and special “adopted” daughter, Ashley Ashton. I have three grandchildren, Brynn, Taylor, and Kateland. I also have numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren. I would like to thank them all for their love and caring. I was pre-deceased by my older sister, Sondra Gohman, my step son, Alan Benson and my Step great grandson, Adam Ashton.\n\nFuneral services will be held Tues. Sept. 15, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St. where friends may call Mon. 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Tues. 1 hour prior to services. Interment Murray City Cemetery.
