Frieda Francelle Hornok Obituary (1921 - 2015)

Our beloved mother, grandma of 27, great grandma of 35 and counting, was born 94 years ago on January 30, 1921, in Omak, WA. Having been born again into God's family while attending a youth rally as a teen in Bellingham, WA, she entered God's presence on November 28, 2015. After a four-month courtship, on November 3, 1944, Frieda married John Hornok, a Machinist 1st Class in the Navy, and a Pearl Harbor Survivor. They celebrated 63 years together before John passed away in 2008. John and Frieda moved to Utah with five young children in 1953 and established the Utah Bible Mission, a summer camp, and several Bible churches, including Midvalley Bible of Bluffdale and Grace Community Bible of Sandy. An accomplished vocalist, pianist and organist, Frieda served as a faithful pastor's wife and stay-at-home mother, while doing a great job of keeping John organized! Frieda was the last surviving member of her family of 8 children born to Harry and Harriet Jones, her twin brother Fred having passed away in October, 2014. Those left to cherish her memory are her 5 sons and a daughter: Kenneth and wife Marcia of Taylorsville with 6 children and 7 grandchildren; David and wife Lil of Winfield, IL, with 4 children and 8 grandchildren; Suzan and husband Gregory Moyer, of Olatha, KS, with 4 sons and 6 grandchildren; Douglas and wife Connie of Draper with 4 children and 9 grandchildren; Daniel and wife Sheryl of Draper with 2 children and 3 grandsons; and Richard and wife Vicki of Texarkana, TX, with 7 children and 2 granddaughters. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces, including Margaret Rosser, also born in 1921, who graduated from high school with Frieda and Fred. Frieda's favorite Bible verse was Psalm 37:5 "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." As a faithful servant of Christ, devoted pastor's wife, beloved mother, and easy-going friend, Frieda touched many hearts and will be greatly missed. Her memorial service will be held at Grace Community Bible Church, 11592 South 1300 East in Sandy, on Saturday, December 12 at 10:30 am.
