Gabriella Fercia Lloyd

–

Lehi, Utah

A friendly woman with a strong will and an easy smile, Gabriella Lloyd touched the lives of many people around the world before she passed away peacefully on February 24, 2022. Her passing was the result of a pair of strokes, and she died at home in the company of family in her final hours.

Born to Angelo Fercia and Teresa Pisano on November 12, 1941, in the beautiful city of Cagliari, Sardegna, Gabriella would eventually call many places home, including Utah, where she met LaMar Lloyd, her current husband who survives her.

Gabriella’s memory is retained and cherished by other surviving family members–her sister Renata and brother Nando, as well as her three sons Fabio, Massimo, and Stefano Volpe, whom she raised to be independent men, teaching them from an early age life skills like cooking that would serve her sons throughout their lives.

Gabriella’s legacy also includes stepchildren Leslie (Bryce) Larsen, Sean Lloyd (Corry Wilson), Travis (Cathy) Lloyd, and Jamie (Mark) Melville; seventeen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren living across the United States and Italy. She is preceded in death by three sisters and the father of her children, Roberto Volpe.

After receiving a high school education in Italy, Gabriella attended Brigham Young University in Utah for two years. In her life, she held a variety of jobs, including working as a clerk for the Italian government, a salesperson for the Italian Auto Club, and a secretary and partner for the landscape company Environments by LaMar Lloyd. She worked hard to provide for her children and later helped nurture grandchildren.

In life Gabriella often passed her time by sewing her own clothes, swapping stories with friends and family, and serving in her faith. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many leadership callings over the years and served for 24 years with LaMar in a missionary capacity around the globe: The arid heat of Mesa, Arizona. The seaside humidity of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The capital cities Madrid and Rome, rich with culture and tradition. In each of these cities, Gabriella served the people through missionary service and worked in those cities’ Latter-day Saint temples.

Gabriella’s life journey never allowed her to settle in one place, and there is no doubt she will continue her next journey with the same curiosity and willingness to go wherever she is needed.
