Gerald Weber

–

South Jordan, Utah

Gerald Frederick Weber Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday evening September 13, 2026 after a brief battle with congestive heart failure. He would have turned 88 in two weeks.

Gerald (Gerry) was born in Los Angeles, California on September 27, 1938 to Gerald F Weber Sr and (Mary) Eleanor Pries Weber. He was the oldest of three boys - Craig and Brent Weber.

In 1940, Gerry’s family moved to Star Valley, Wyoming during WWII so that his dad could work on the farm (as essential industry), rather than being drafted. They lived in an old hotel during that time. After the war, Gerry’s family moved to North Hollywood, California.

Beginning about 1945, Gerry traveled alone on the train, from age 6 to 14, to Salt Lake City, was met by his grandparents and taken to Star Valley for the summers. In 1950, the family moved to Encino, California. Gerry achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at age 15. Gerry often spoke very fondly of his Star Valley Weber grandparents and shared, with all who would listen, about their great example of marriage.

In 1954 and 1955, Gerry’s family spent the summer in upstate New York where Gerry swam1 ¼ miles across Owasco Lake and back again. He was an avid swimmer in his youth and loved water skiing at Lake Arrowhead at his Dad’s cabin and boat.

Gerry graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1956 and received a 1949 modified and altered Ford for graduation. He entered Stanford University in Fall 1956. On January 25, 1957, Gerry met the love of his life, Judith (Judy) Parker at the Stake Gold and Green Ball. They dated six months until the end of school in June. After Judy graduated from high school and enrolled at BYU, Gerry transferred to BYU to be with Judy. They were sealed for Time and All Eternity on September 6, 1958 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.

Gerry and Judy welcomed four children- (Gerald) Scott 1960, (Geoffrey) Mark 1962, Sharilyn 1965 and adopted Chalene in 1967, making their family complete. After living in Reseda and Canoga Park, California for a time, they made their home in Tarzana, California. However, in 1983, they decided to move to Utah (where Judy was from) and lived there for the remainder of their lives.

In his early career, Gerry worked in the insurance business. Later as an entrepreneur (auto body shop owner) and went into the mortgage business back in Utah. Gerry was an avid car collector during his California days and could give all the details of every antique car he ever saw.

Gerry and Judy served two Stake missions; the first as temple tour guides at the Jordan River Temple and later as Stake mission leaders in the Sandy Cottonwood Creek Stake.

Gerry was a happy fellow and always had an enthusiastic smile and greeting for family and friends. He loved good food, good stories, good jokes and always supported Judy’s family research and reunions/gatherings.

After Judy’s passing, Gerry enjoyed serving in the temple as it helped him feel closer to her.

Gerry is survived by his children Scott (Stephanie), Mark (Kristi), Sharilyn (Gavin Grooms)and Chalene (Kevin Williams); 20 grandchildren (Adam, Rachel, Tiffany, Preston, Danielle, Drake, Madeline, Connor, Carlee, Joshua, Jennifer, Brittany, Kyrsten, Gavin Jr., Gabrielle, Joseph, Jessica, Travis, Andrew and Jacob) and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Judy (2023), his brothers Craig & Brent and his parents Gerald &Eleanor.
