With great joy we announce the reunion of Geraldine Louise Tanner to her husband Keith Leroy Eskelsen and son, Steven Keith Eskelsen on Jul 24, 2023. Gerry was born on March 8, 1930 in Sanpete County, Utah to Elsie Louise Blackham and Winward Fred Tanner. \n\nGerry lived in Murray with her mom and step-father Elden Hansen and half-brother Keith where they ran a family store out of their garage on 700 West. Gerry graduated from Jordan High School in 1948 and immediately started working for Mountain Bell Phone Company as a telephone operator. She retired from the phone company after working for 37 years in 1985.\n\nGrandma met Grandpa Keith at a thanksgiving dinner while she was dating his little brother Ron. She later told Ron that she didn’t like Keith because he was such a “jokester”. Gerry and Keith were married on August 17, 1950 in the Moroni Utah LDS Temple. Grandma was 19 years old when their daughter, Debbie was born in 1951. They moved into their first home on Sanford Drive where her son Steve was born in 1960. The Eskeslsens were Hidden Village residents for more than 67 years. Grandma enjoyed her involvement with many organizations: The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Telephone Pioneers of America, and local non-profit organizations. She worried tirelessly about her family and neighbors and would give of her time freely. \n\nWe are lucky and very blessed to have loved someone so much that makes saying goodbye so hard.\n\nGrandma is survived by her Daughter, Debra Mercer (Brad), Granddaughter, Kimberly Oliver, (Ryan), Grandsons, Trent Harris (Jamie), Brock Harris (Bri) and Brody Eskelsen (Christa); Great Grandchildren, Riley, Reese, Guy, Rue and Grey; and Best Friend, Elsie. \n\nWe would like to say “THANK YOU” to those who helped make her life a little easier, showed her kindness, love and brought her joy, specifically, Bruce and Debbie Moffat & family, Rene Larsen, Paul Cook as well as those at the Abbington community who provided her end of life care. \n\nPlease join us in celebrating her life Monday, August 7th from 4-6pm at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home 4760 S. State Street, Murray, UT. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society of Utah.
