Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Geraldine “Jerry” Nicholson Low, peacefully passed away September 23, 2010.\nShe was born December 21, 1932 in Murray, Utah to Iver and Marion Nicholson.Jerry attended South High in Salt Lake and the University of Utah, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She worked at LDS hospital and for a general practitioner, Dr. Maurice Taylor.She married her sweetheart, David Sterling Low, on October 18, 1957, which was later solemnized on October 17, 1958 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had three children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with David on his business trips. One of the highlights in her life was coaching ward basketball as “Doc” and “Mama Coach.” They shared 48 wonderful years together. David passed away in 2006, and she missed him greatly, but looked forward to the time when she could be with him again.Jerry and David were basketball season ticket holders for the Runnin’ Utes for over forty years and loved supporting the University of Utah. Jerry enjoyed wood-working and getting nearly any plant to flourish. She was grateful to live in this free country and showed her patriotic spirit often. She was such a caring person with a good heart. She was very thoughtful of others and always let her family know how important they were to her. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was looking forward to meeting another great-granddaughter in November.Jerry is survived by her brother Val Nicholson; her children and their spouses, whom she also considered her children, Teriann and Brian Booth, Steve and Beth Low, Rick and Tammy Low; grandchildren Amy Booth, Anne (Jace) Vernon, Natalie (Ryan) Nielsen, Marie and Kevin Low, Gregory, Ashley, and Alyssa Low; great-grandchildren Aliyah, Xander, and soon-to-be-born Taya Vernon, and Tabitha Nielsen.\nPreceded in death by her beloved David, and her parents.Family and friends may call Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, in Murray, from 6:00-8:00 p.m . They may also call one hour prior to the funeral services on Thursday, September 30, 2010 . The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the Big Cottonwood Stake Center, 1750 Spring Lane, Salt Lake. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jerry’s memory to the Humane Society of Utah.
