Geraldine Maire “Geri” VanAusdal left this world on Oct. 30, 2021. She was 85.\n\nGeri was born to Charles and Helen Ferris on March 25, 1936, in Eureka, Utah. She attended Tintic High School and the University of Utah, where she played clarinet in the marching band.\n\nShe married Clare E. VanAusdal on Sept. 14, 1957. They had four children: Koren (Joe) Lyons, Charles (Shelly) VanAusdal, Teresa Homola and Clare L. VanAusdal.\n\nGeri was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she participated in the Infant of Prague guild, the craft group, and helped with many funerals and fundraisers. She was also a Girl Scout leader and filled various positions for Bobby Sox softball. She was a member and volunteer at the Kearns Senior Center.\n\nFor the past several years, Geri resided at the Golden Living assisted care facility in Taylorsville, where she made many friends.\n\nGeri was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Charleen “Toni” Byrne and Julie Ann Sorensen. She is survived by her children; grandchildren Joel Lyons, Mitchell VanAusdal, Keith Homola and Shelby VanAusdal; great-granddaughter Elizabeth VanAusdal; sister Roseann “Annie” Smith; brothers-in-law Gary (Verna) VanAusdal and Boyd VanAusdal, and sister-in-law Arlene Schurtz; and many other relatives. \n\nA funeral mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Nov. 8, 2021, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Kearns. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park in Bluffdale.
