Gilbert P. Armstrong Obituary (1946 - 2025)

Gil passed away peacefully on June 13th, 2025 at his home in Copperton, Utah. Gil was born June 25, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Paul and Geraldine. His “misspent youth” was spent running around the Avenues and downtown Salt Lake City. He met the love of his life, Renae Bouck, when they were 16 years old. They were married on August 7, 1964 in SLC and spent nearly 61 years together. Gil took great pride in his career. He was a welder prior to becoming a firefighter & EMT with Salt Lake County Fire Department from 1974-1994. Gil and Renae loved to travel, they spent months at a time in Mexico, several trips to Hawaii, traveled after retirement in their 5th wheel and saw a lot of this beautiful country together. 9 years ago, Gil and Renae moved to Copperton, UT where he shared a special friendship with their neighbor Trish, her girls and was lovingly Papa Gil to Ace. As a lover of all animals, Gil became friends with all the neighborhood cats, deer and especially loved his little girl Cady. Gil was the orneriest and grumpiest old man, but his heart was big. If he loved you, he showed it. And he showed that love freely to so many. “Poor Old Gil” will be missed deeply. Survived by his wife Renae, Nieces Corrine and Linda, Nephews Mark and Jim, and Great Niece Charlotte. Sisters-in-law Connie (Jim) Bell and Carla (Robert) Davis, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Geraldine, his brothers Ron and Tom, his sister Barbara and nephew Scott. Special Thank You to Inspiration Hospice for their loving care of our Gil.
