OUR HERO\n“LAST OF THE LEATHERHEADS”\nGordon Stanley Neff was born at home on the family farm in Crescent, Utah on July 2, 1927, to Stanley Benjamin Neff and Olga Leona Grace Rindlisbacher Neff. He died on September 30, 2008, at his home in Holladay, Utah. \nGordy married his sweetheart, Elaine Christiansen, on June 21, 1949, in the Salt Lake Temple. She is the love of his life. They are the parents of five children: Rosanne (Stan) Packer, Gordon Steven (Carrie) Neff, Rebecca (Ric) Coleman, David Soren (Susan) Neff, and Nancy Neff. They are the grandparents of 18 wonderful grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind three sisters: LaVon Tanner, Faye (“K”) Brady, and Lois (Jim) Johnson. \nGordy was a valiant member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership capacities including high councilor and branch president. He was an extremely devoted home teacher and always a friend to the youth. \nHe worked as a manufacturers representative in the wholesale clothing business and was President of Gordon Neff, Inc. for over 30 years. He was respected by all who knew him for his integrity, work ethic, generosity, fair play, quick wit, and sense of humor. Gordon was an Allstate football player at Jordan High School. He continued his football and education at the University of Utah from 1945-1948. He was a member of two Conference championship teams, a four-year starter/letterman, All Conference Guard, and honorable mention All-American. He was always proud to be “A Utah Man.” \nHis family was paramount in his life. He was intensely proud of his heritage and had a deep love for the United States of America. \nFuneral services will be held on Monday, October 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the Holladay North Stake Center, located at 4395 Albright Dr. (2145 E.).
