Gregg R. Gorringe, age 38, passed away January 27, 2006 surrounded by his family, after a courageous year long battle with lung cancer. He stayed strong until the very end and amazed all who cared for him. He was born on October 29, 1967 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Kathy Phelps on October 23, 1992, later divorced but had remained very good friends raising their son Drew together. He grew up in Murray where he attended Murray High School and the University of Utah. He was the captain of the Murray High School wrestling team.\n\nHe had a talent for making things work; he was a skilled master electrician and successful owner of South Valley Electric. He was an avid Ute fan, loved fishing with his son and weekend trips to Wendover.\n \nGregg is survived by his son Drew, Kathy Phelps, parents Richard and Judi Gorringe, sisters and brother, Traci (Greg) Johnson, Lesa (Jeff) Wilkinson, Rick (Sara) Gorringe, and many nieces and nephews.\n\nThe family wishes to thank Dr. Nibley, Michael Gaffney, Anne Marceau, Tina Vigil, and the Cottonwood Hospital Oncology staff, Rina Carver, Russ Labrum, Kari Howard and Rose for their loving care.\n\nFuneral services will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the South Cottonwood Ward Chapel (5605 So. Vine Street) Friends may call Monday, January 30, 2006 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary (4760 So. State Street) from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment at Murray City Cemetery.
