Guenther Walter Stoll 1927-2024, beloved husband, father, & grandfather returned to the loving embrace of the Savior on December 14, 2024. We believe it was a joyful reunion when he was welcomed through the veil by loved ones who have passed on--- our beloved mother Marcelle, his parents Wilhelm and Margaret, his 6 siblings, and many friends and family.
Guenther immigrated to the US as an infant when his family left Erfurt, Germany to join the saints in Zion. As a young man, he served in the Merchant Marines and Air Force. He lived a life of honesty, hard work, faith and family. Above all, Guenther prized his testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and remained stalwart and committed to the covenants he made. He shared the gospel with others as a missionary in the Swiss Austrian Mission. Upon returning home, he fell in love with Marcelle Cervel, a former French beauty queen. With his humility and goodness, he won her over and they were sealed as husband and wife in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised 8 children, always doing their best to anchor their family in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Ging, as his friends called him, graduated from the University of Utah and worked his entire career as a pharmacist, ending at the VA.
He had great skills as a home renovator, gardener and pancake maker. His sense of humor was notable, especially since he was generally a quiet man. After Marcelle’s death in 2005 and 51 years of marriage, Guenther found life and love again by marrying a longtime family friend, Jeannine Crabtree. They shared 18 happy years of peaceful companionship. The Stoll family is sincerely grateful to Jeannine for her love and devotion to our father.
Guenther was the epitome of a family man and will be remembered for his quiet strength, hard work, enduring faith and steadfast example of love and loyalty. Guenther is survived by his wife, Jeannine, his children: Colette (Mike) Lancaster, Renee Norton, David (Amelie), Richard (Tiffany), Jacqueline (Brad) Howard, Jeannine (Brent) Barger, Robert (Eugenie), Suzanne (Tim) Snell; 29 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
There will be a family gathering at the mortuary.
