Harrison Gregory Matthews Obituary (1984 - 2008)

“Loving Son” Our beloved son Harrison Passed Away on January 16, 2008 from a most valiant fight with Leukemia. Harrison was born December 10, 1984 to the proud parents of Howard Douglas Matthews and Gail Green Matthews. He was the fifth of six beautiful children and is survived by his parents, his oldest brother Joshua Howard (Allison) Matthews, sisters; Annie May (Zak) Hansen and Amanda (Clint) Rasmussen, brothers; Makay Douglas Matthews and Patrick John Matthews. He was the uncle to three sweet nephews, Riley, Jordan, and C.J.and five beautiful nieces, Trishalynn, Mackenzie, Kelsea May, Ava May and Olivia, his grandmother Elaine J. Matthews and grandparents “Ma & Pa” Elden and Barbara Green. Also his special uncle who he was named after; Gregory J. Matthews. He is preceded in death by grandfather Douglas David Matthews, Jr. Harrison and his family were so blessed to have his dear girlfriend Kathryn Fitches (Katie) come into his life at a time when she was so needed and appreciated. Katie will always be a part of our family. Harrison is surrounded by an extended family of uncles, aunts and cousins, whose thoughts and prayers we know were always with him. Harrison was a gentle, kind and loving boy who grew into a spiritually strong and good man. He graduated from Bingham High School and attended classes at S.L.C.C.. He served an LDS Mission in the Czech Republic. He was a very ambitious and hardworking man and was employed by Royce Industries. He was actively serving as a counselor in his Elders Quorum at the time of his illness. His friends were a huge part of his life. His interests were hunting, fishing, camping, snowboarding and sports. Words cannot describe how greatly Harrison will be missed and how much we look forward to being an eternal Family. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 21, 2008 at The Country Park Stake Center, 2447 West. 11400 South at 11:00 am. Friends and Family may call Sunday, January 20, 2008 at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So.) from 5-7 pm and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Harrison and his family sincerely thank all those who cared for him at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and at the University of Utah Hospital.
