Hawley Burgess Obituary (1918 - 2008)

Hawley Burgess passed away of natural causes on June 14, 2008. He was born in Altonah, Utah to James W. and Elizabeth D. Crow Burgess. He married his sweetheart, Blanche Pearson, in Salt Lake City, UT on Sept. 10, 1938. Hawley graduated from Carbon High School where he was a 2-year All-State football player. He was a member of the Murray Eagles, #67. Hawley loved to hunt, fish and camp. He worked for Western Steel for 30 years. He also worked as a foreman for Simpson Steel, retiring after 12 years. Survived by his loving wife, Blanche; 4 sons, Roy, Lynn, Terry and Randy; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary and Rama. Preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and 5 sisters. Special thanks to Joe at Hearts for Hospice for his loving concern and care. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Murray City Cemetery, 5600 So. Vine Street. A viewing will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Friday at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, prior to the graveside service.
