Hazel Stewart Hansen Obituary (1931 - 2015)

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Hazel Stewart Hansen, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015. She was surrounded by her loving family. Hazel was born to Peter Alexander and Nellie Marie Rombach Stewart on April 17, 1931 in Rolla, North Dakota. She moved with her family to Salt Lake City in 1940, when her father found work at Tooele Army Depot in support of the war effort. She met and married William Arlo Hansen in 1950 and started a 53 year adventure. Family was everything to Hazel, being raised as one of ten children and having nine of her own. She traveled with family members to many places around the world and enjoyed recounting tales of the places she visited. She was happiest visiting with her family and beating them at card and board games. Hazel loved her ancestry and shared her family pictures with all who came by. In her last years of life, she experienced many health issues and special thanks to those who cared for her in the last year, especially her grandson Chris Olsen. Hazel is survived by her nine children, Bill, Michael P., Susan (Steve) Larsen, Bob, Marcie (Larry) Bills, Butch (Robin), Nancy (Scott) Olsen, Patti (Carl) Fauver, Sally (Brian) Carter, 52 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; her sisters Laura Rudarmel and Isabelle Bills. She is preceded in death by her husband Arlo; her grandson, Brett Larsen; and granddaughter, Alicia Bills. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 11:00 am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00-10:45 prior to the service. Interment at Murray City Cemetery.
