Heriberto Wilson Bejarano Paredes Obituary (1926 - 2013)

THIS FIRST VERSION IS THE ENGLISH VERSION (THE SPANISH VERSION FOLLOWS) Heriberto "Papa Hery" Wilson Bejarano Paredes was born in Santiago de Chuco, La Libertad, Peru on August 30, 1926. His parents were Mr. Antonio Bejarano Ravello and Mrs. Maria Victoria Paredes Paz. When he was 17 years old he became an orphan, and he joined the Peruvian Army. He finished his career in the army with honors. After his time in the army he joined the Guardia Civil del Peru. In this institution he also graduated with honors. His first assignment was to work in Cerro de Pasco. In that city in 1949 he met a distinguished lady from the Pasco society, Ms. Avelina Santiago Oscategui. They had a lovely romance and they got married on May 13, 1950. He is preceded in death by his lovely wife, Avelina Santiago de Bejarano. He is survived by his children: Ketty Vasquez, RosaMaria Bejarano Hurst (Paul), Rafael Antonio Bejarano (Milagros), Luz Marina "Lucy" Bejarano Suarez (Hugo), Bertha Avelina "Becky" Bejarano Leavitt (Paul), Heriberto "Eddie" Wilson Bejarano, Jr. (Annette), Jose Luis Bejarano (Katy), and Daniel Bejarano. During his service in the Guardia Civil del Peru, he always did an excellent job, he served the Peruvian citizens with discipline, honesty, with and a charitable heart for the poor and the needy who came to him seeking justice. He served in different parts of his country. He worked for ORDEZA. During his career he received many medals and awards from his superiors as well as from political leaders in recognition for his great work in the Police force as well as for his service in the community. He was the Mayor for his neighborhood from 1989 to 1991. He immigrated to the United States in 1991. From that time on, he worked hard studying English and working for different companies. He was a great asset for his family. He was faithful attending the Temple and doing the work for many people. In 1993, he was sealed for time and all eternity to his beautiful wife Avelina Santiago Oscategui in the Salt Lake Temple. Papa Hery, as we affectionately called him, was an example of conversion for his children. He joined the church in 1965 and taught his children that perfection is acquired step by step, by having faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. Once he found out that his life was coming to an end, he accepted the will of the Lord. He visited the House of the Lord for the last time 15 days before he left this life. On Tuesday, December 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, we will have a viewing at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary located at 4760 South State Street, Murray, UT. On Wednesday December 11 we will have his funeral services at the Winder 4th Ward Building, 951 E. 3825 South, SLC at 12:00 pm with a viewing prior at 11:00 am. The burial services will be at the Elysian Burial Garden, 1075 E. 4580 S., SLC, UT. Sus padres fueron Don Antonio Bejarano Ravello y su madre Doña María Victoria Paredes Paz. A los 17 años se unió al ejército del Perú ya que por ese entonces se había quedado huérfano. Termino su servicio al País con excelentes calificaciones. Se unió a la Guardia Civil del Perú, donde también se graduó de esa institución con distinción y con excelentes calificaciones. Fue enviado a su primera asignación a la ciudad de Cerro de Pasco Perú. En 1949 conoció a una hermosa dama de la sociedad Cereña, la Señorita Avelina Santiago Oscategui. Después de un hermoso romance contrajeron matrimonio el 13 de Mayo de 1950. Durante su servicio al cuerpo Policial de la Guardia Civil del Perú desempeño un trabajo de excelencia, sirviendo al Pueblo Peruano con disciplina, honradez y con un corazón caritativo para el desvalido y para el que buscaba justicia. Sirvió en diversas partes de la nación Peruana. En 1975 trabajo con el Organismo ORDEZA. Recibió condecoraciones, diplomas de honor y diversos reconocimientos tanto policiales como de los líderes políticos de los lugares donde prestó servicio. Se jubilo en 1983 de la institución policial como Sub Oficial Brigadier General. Sirvió también como Alcalde Vecinal durante el periodo de 1989 a 1991. In 1993 se sello por Tiempo y Eternidad a su compañera eterna Avelina Santiago Oscategui de Bejarano en el Templo de Lago Salado. Papa Hery, como cariñosamente lo llamamos, fue un ejemplo de conversión en nuestras vidas. Se unió a la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días en 1965. Su conversión fue importante en su vida y en la vida de sus hijos. Les enseño a sus hijos que la perfección se logra paso a paso y que cuando caemos podemos sostenernos del Evangelio del Señor Jesucristo, arrepentirnos y seguir caminando en esta tierra de probación. Una vez que se entero que su enfermedad no tendría cura, se sobrepuso y acepto sus nuevos desafíos con valentía. Decidió ser humilde y aceptar la voluntad del señor con fe. 15 días antes de morir fue al templo de Lago Salado para hacer su último servicio al Señor. El martes 10 de Diciembre a las 6:00 PM a 8:00 PM tendremos el velorio en la casa mortuoria de Jenkins-Soffe ubicado en 4760 South State Street, Murray, UT. El miércoles 11 de Diciembre se tendrá los servicios funerales en el Barrio Winder 4th Ward, 951 E 3825 S, SLC de 11:00 AM a 1:00 PM. Será llevado a su sepultura en el cementerio de Elysian Burial Garden, 1075 E. 4580 S., SLC, UT.
