Inez "Sandy" Hottinger Obituary (1931 - 2023)

INEZ "SANDY" ARLENE HOTTINGER Inez "Sandy" Arlene Hottinger, took her first heavenly breath at Jesus’ feet on July 1st, 2023, just a few days short of her 92nd birthday, following a brief illness and a recent stroke. Sandy first graced the world on July 13, 1931, born Inez Arlene Morsch in Baraboo, Wisconsin, a small town known for its robust dairy farming. With her striking red hair, she matured into a beautiful and industrious farmer's daughter. Following her graduation from Baraboo High School, she furthered her education at Olivet Nazarene College (now Olivet University) in Bourbonais, Illinois. Two years into college, she eloped with Richard Hottinger, supporting his pastoral calling within the Nazarene community during the early years of their marriage. In 1953 Dick and Sandy, along with their two young children, made their home in Knox County, Ohio, a place they loved and lived in for the next 53 years. Sandy lent her skills to the community as a dedicated dental assistant throughout her Ohio years. Sandy moved to the Salt Lake Valley in 2006 to be closer to her daughter's family. She resided in Sandy, Utah, until 2019 when she transitioned to South Jordan, Utah. Blessed with remarkable health throughout her life, Sandy remained an avid hiker into her 80s. She managed to evade major surgeries and hospitalizations and was rarely ill. Sandy's deep love for the Bible made her a lifelong scholar of its teachings. She led numerous Bible Studies and her deep understanding of Scripture and her compassion provided comfort and hope to many. Her enduring faith and love for Jesus were the legacy she passed onto her cherished family - her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sandy was predeceased by her father (W. Alvin Morsch), mother (Margaret Hansen Morsch), brother William, sister Mae (Elmer), and husband Richard Hottinger. She is survived by an estranged sister, Nancy Weiss - Jarstad with whom she longed for reconciliation. Sandy leaves behind her son Michael, daughter Becky (Belisle), daughter-in-law Cindy Hottinger, son-in-law Stephen Belisle, grandsons Jonathan Hottinger and Benjamin Belisle, granddaughters Brooke Rogers and Crystal Lindelien, great-grandsons Charlie and Landon Hottinger, George and Samuel Rogers, Timothy and Gabriel Lindelien, and great-granddaughters Claire and Abigail Lindelien. A memorial service to honor Sandy's life will be held later this summer. Details will be announced in the coming weeks. Instead of flowers or donations, Sandy would want you to simply find a tangible way to “love your neighbor as yourself.”
