View Funeral Webcast\r\n\r\nIrene Beveridge Simons passed peacefully surrounded by family the morning of June 3rd, 2020. She fought a courageous fight against cancer for the past 7 years and will be dearly missed by many.\r\nIrene was born on October 15th, 1951 at the American Fork, Utah hospital to Lamar (Wish) and LaTella Rowley Beveridge. She attended Ricks College from 1969-70 and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1972 with a degree in nursing as a Registered Nurse. She met the love of her life, Michael Simons, in a religion class while attending BYU and was sealed to him for time and all eternity on September 10th, 1971 in the Salt Lake temple. They shared 48 happy years together. Irene worked at several different hospitals throughout Utah as an RN as well as an Occupational Health nurse for Unisys, L-3 Communications and OrbitalATK. She and Mike had four wonderful children during this time; Jenny, Chris, Russ and Sarah. Irene took loving care of her special needs daughter, Jenny, for 29 years before she passed away in 2002.\r\nIrene had an immense love for her children and especially grandchildren. She also enjoyed crochet, silk ribbon embroidery, playing the violin and painting. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions. Her favorite calling was serving as the Young Women’s President of the Heritage 8th Branch (West Jordan care center) for the past 7 years.\r\nHer dedication to serving others was never ending and we will miss her wit, smile, humor, kindness and compassion towards everyone. Irene was always ready to help whenever needed and has saved several lives throughout her life as a Registered Nurse from babies in the hospital to neighbors and co-workers.\r\nIrene is survived by her husband Mike, children Chris (Melanie) and Sarah (Brandon), daughter-in-law Liz Simons-Adams and 12 grandchildren. Irene is preceded in death by two children Jenny and Russ (Liz) as well as her Mother (LaTella) and Father (Lamar).\r\nDue to COVID-19 restrictions, funeral services will be held Monday, June 8, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. by invitation only. There will be a public viewing Sunday, June 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah, 84095.
