Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and neighbor, J. McPherson Munk, age 84, passed away February 4, 2008 in Salt Lake City, UT. Born December 19, 1923 in Manti, UT to Jesse Ray and Ruby Lucille McPherson Munk. He married his high school sweetheart, Floy Peterson, on August 4, 1943; sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on\nJuly 12, 1949.\n\nHe served in the U.S. Navy and was recognized by the Utah Veterans on Armistice Day in the year 2004. He was an engineer for Denver Rio Grande Railroad where he had worked for 43 years. \n\nHe loved gardening and sharing the fruits of his labors with neighbors. He was an avid woodworker and created many beautiful wood carvings and pieces of furniture which he shared with friends and family. With his wife, he served a mission in the Denver Colorado Temple in 1987-88; also a service mission in the Salt Lake area with the Thailand Branch.\n\nSurvived by his loving wife, Floy; children, Kathleen (Stephen) Bywater, Randell (Ginger) Munk, Leslie (Steve) Pratt, Sheldon Munk; brother, Lyle (Donna); sisters, LuRae Greenwood, Mary Louise (Neil) Sorensen; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his brother, David.\n\nFuneral services will be held Friday, February 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Murray 25th Ward, 363 E. Vine Street. Friends and family may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment: Manti City Cemetery.
