James Harrell Smith

James Harrell Smith passed away in his home in Murray on June 14, 2008. He fought many illnesses in his lifetime but the final courageous battle that took his life was cancer. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on March 10, 1954 to Dr. Lowry James and Ida Harrell Smith.
He graduated from Murray High School and attended the U of U and Salt Lake Community College for many years. He loved the outdoors, hiking, swimming, snow skiing, rock hunting and fishing, which all began in his early years with his family.
Survived by the family's lifelong devoted friend Joan Weaver. Special thanks to Dr. Daley, nurse Jackie, Dr. Shen, nurse Anita and also Alpine Hospice nurse Cathy.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.
Funeral services will he held Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, with a viewing on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
