In the early morning of January 16, 2023, Jan R. Satterfield of West Jordan died at the age of 70 due to heart disease and other ailments.\n\nJan was born to Kenneth and Marjorie Solomon in 1952 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from Kearns High School in 1971 then set sail to sunny California, where she lived for 10 years.\n\nIn February of 1980, she married Craig Satterfield in Carson City, Nevada, where they celebrated with skiing at Lake Tahoe. They were married for almost 43 years. Together they raised two children, Kari and Bryan.\n\nJan was known for her amazing cooking. Her sugar cookies, meatballs and gravies stand out above the rest. She loved to watch her kids play sports every weekend for 15 years. She enjoyed playing online trivia with friends from across the country. She also was an avid reader and loved to travel.\n\nShe had a notable career at EDO Western and L3 Communications as a mechanical engineer where she retired in 2018.\n\nJan is preceded in death by her parents and her brother John. She is survived by her husband Craig, two children Kari (Jon), Bryan (Alicia) and six grandchildren, Halee, Lexee, Berklee, Oaklee, Rylee and Colton. Also, her sister Eileen (Mel) and brother Rick (Denise) as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\n\nHer ashes will be scattered in her favorite places, the Pacific Ocean and Scotland.\n\nA celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Awaken Event Center, 322 W 11000 S, South Jordan. Hors D’oeuvres and drinks will be served. \n\nIn lieu of flowers, have a glass of Chardonnay and thank the lucky stars you have good health!
