“Beloved Wife & Mother”\nJane Sprunt Meiling, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away September 11, 2009 from complications of Alzheimer’s. She was well known for her kindness, charity, and concern for others over self. Her radiant smile was always with her even until the end. \nJane was born June 1, 1937 to William Handy Sprunt and Clarissa Olive Scofield. Jane and her twin sister, Jean, were the youngest of five children. Jane graduated from East High School in 1955 and the University of Utah in 1959 with a BS degree in Political Science. While at the University she was a member of Chi Omega, Spurs, and Cwean. After graduation, Jane worked at the LDS Church as a legal secretary. She married Gerald Meiling on July 20, 1962 in the LDS Logan temple. \nA faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jane served in every auxiliary of the church but was best known for her service to the youth. Active in the community, she served many years as a docent at the Rockwell Museum of Art in Corning, NY. \nJane is survived by her husband; three children, John Meiling (Pamela), David Meiling and Marcine Meiling; her twin sister, Jean Sprunt; her brother, Jack Sprunt; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ronald Sprunt; and a sister, Wilma Sprunt Hooper. \nFriends and family may call for viewing Friday, September 18, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary at 4760 S. State St., Murray, UT. A second viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Little Cottonwood 16th Ward, 6350 S. Rodeo Lane (1540 E.), Murray, UT. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park immediately following the funeral services. \nIn lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in the name of Jane Meiling to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 4800 S. 855 E.
