Janet Datwyler

–

Sandy, Utah

Janet Dolores Merrill Datwyler was born to Franklin Beck Merrill and Dolores Rose Graham on January 11, 1932, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was an East High Leopard and finished two years of college. Janet married G. LeRoy Datwyler in the Salt Lake Temple on August 10, 1956. They were blessed with five children: Franklin, Douglas (Denise), David (Pam), Steven (Mary), and Dawna (Clark Sessions), in addition to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Janet and LeRoy spent a year and a half in Germany with their children in the early 1970s while dad worked on a military contract with Univac.

She was an elementary school secretary (fondly known as ‘Mrs. D’) for 20 years at the now-closed Millcreek Elementary School in the Granite School District.

Janet served in the Young Women’s program in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and LeRoy proudly served a mission in the Family History department of the church and were ordinance workers at the Jordan River Temple.

Janet passed away on June 10, 2023, at the Cedarwood Senior Living Center in Sandy, Utah. We appreciate the Cedarwood staff who have been very attentive to her needs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Robert (Bob) and Kent, and son Franklin.

A graveside service will be held on June 16, 2023 at 11:00 am, near the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Uinta Avenue, in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Utah.
