Janet Mary Reading Bowers passed away on July 3, 2006 at 6:20 p.m. after a courageous four and a half year battle with seizures and strokes caused by a traumatic brain injury. Janet loved her family and friends deeply. She was so thrilled to become a grandmother and it was a role she relished. \nJanet was born on July 6, 1939 in Murray, Utah to Roy Verdette Reading and Mary Rebecca Nelson. She married Harold (Collie) Bowers on March 26, 1966. \nJanet was a member of the LDS church. She was a cheerleader and won the Crest Award of Murray High School Class of 1957. She loved working with people and was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and strangers alike. \nShe is survived by her loving husband, Harold “Collie”; son, Tad (Joni) of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Melynda (Ron) Burns of Marietta, GA. Five grandchildren, Chad, Megan, Madilynn, Taylor and Jack. \nOur family wishes to thank South Davis Community Hospital staff and physicians for their professionalism and loving care of Janet. \nFuneral services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary (4760 So. State Street, Murray) where friends and family may call Friday, July 14, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Saturday.
