Janet Robinson Nelson, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 in Draper, UT. She was born on Halloween, October 31, 1941, in Richfield, UT to Ernest Clinton Robinson and Elsie May Rowley. She was the first child in the family followed by her brother Gereld and sisters Laraine and Beverly.

She attended school in Richfield, graduating from Richfield High School in 1959. She attended Brigham Young University for one year and was awarded an Education School Scholarship while there. She then transferred to Utah State University and graduated in 1963 in Homemaking Education.

She married Carl R. Nelson on June 21, 1963 in the Manti Utah Temple, and together, they are the parents of four children: Brian (Vicky), Scott (Traci), Keith (Amy), and Elaine (Smith). She taught in Salt Lake City at both Lincoln and Evergreen Junior High Schools for three years, then taught Adult Community School for 22 years. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and faithfully served in many callings throughout her life.

Janet loved to make homemade whole wheat bread and deliver it to family and friends during Christmastime. She was also known for her bottled sweet + dill pickles, purple grape juice, tomatoes, pears, and peaches. She loved orchids and enjoyed sewing and crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with friends and family including her 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Janet spent the final few years of her life battling dementia. We'd like to thank Spring Gardens Senior Living in Draper, UT and Inspiration Home Health & Hospice for the care she received. Janet is survived by her husband, Carl, and her sister, Laraine. She is preceded in death by her sister Beverly, brother Gereld, grandsons Samuel and Justin, parents Clint and Elsie, and parents-in-law Carl Sr. and Naomi.

A viewing will be held at the Butler 20th Ward/Salt Lake Butler West Stake Center Building (1845 E 7200 S, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121) on Friday, October 30th from 10am-12pm.
