Jan Phillips

–

Murray, Utah

Janet Ann Neely Phillips, known affectionately to all as Jan Phillips, was a force to be reckoned with. Born on January 24th, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Loretta Elizabeth Marie Pictor and Francis Leroy Neely, Jan was an embodiment of strength, love, and unmistakable character that left an indelible mark in the hearts of all who knew her. A gifted artist, dancer, and writer, her creativity flowed in every aspect of her life. Despite her spirited personality, she was also someone who held her family and friends close to her heart. Jan passed away peacefully at her home in Murray, Utah, on November 24th, 2024, at the age of 84.

Jan was not only a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend but also a philanthropic soul who devoted much of her time to giving back to her community. For over twenty years, she selflessly served food to the hungry at the Good Samaritan, and for over a decade, she was a cherished member of the South Valley School for special needs. Her dedication to helping those in need spoke volumes about her compassionate spirit. Professionally, Jan had a successful career as a Stock Broker and Investment Counselor, retiring from Fidelity Investments. Her resilience and tenacity in her career were admired by her colleagues and friends alike.

Jan is survived by her children, Richard Kenneth Phillips and Lisa Ann Phillips Bolton; her five beloved grandchildren, Ashton Hildreth (Emily), Addison Hildreth, Riley Bolton (Natalie), Landon Howa (Kat), and Kylee Howa; and her sisters, Susan Neely Longson and Lynne Neely Glezos, Robyn Marie Phillips in heaven. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends who will miss her dearly. Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Loretta Neely.

In true Jan Phillips style, instead of conventional services, a celebration of life and party will be held on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, to honor her memory. The world has indeed lost a beacon of light, and heaven better prepare for some shenanigans, a wicked sense of humor, and endless spaghetti dinners. She will be dearly missed.

As we remember Jan, we ask everyone to please visit her memorial page to share stories, memories, and photos of our beloved Jan. Your contributions will help us keep her vibrant spirit alive in our hearts. Go Utes!
