Joan Brand

Joan Brand, our beloved and cherished mother, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 21, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Clyde Peterson and June Recourt, Joan entered the world with striking blue eyes and a radiant spirit. Throughout her life, she exemplified grace, strength, resilience, and an unwavering cheerfulness, even in the face of life’s many challenges.

Her life was a true testament to love, service, and devotion to her family. Joan Graduated from Jordan High school in 1958. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Lynn Brand, on June 26, 1959 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they shared 64 wonderful years of inseparable companionship until Lynn’s passing last year. Blessed with five children—three daughters and two sons—Joan dedicated herself to making their home a sanctuary of warmth, joy, and comfort. From Sandy to South Jordan, Utah, her home was always a place where family gathered, and where love and laughter flourished. Her grandchildren will forever cherish the memory of her special Halloween "Witches Brew" at the annual family party.

Joan was ambitious and hardworking, always seeking new adventures. She took on many roles in her life, from being the secretary at Edgemont Elementary while her children were in school, to owning and operating several businesses. She ran Winchell’s Donut Shop, managed her own silkscreen business, and later opened retail stores, "Brand-T-Fashions," in Sandy and West Jordan.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joan served faithfully in many callings throughout her life and loved her time as a temple worker. Her faith and service were cornerstones of her life.

Joan is survived by her children: Corie (David) Lucero, Carla (Richard) Frampton, Cristy (Bryant) Duncan, Jeffrey (Tammy) Brand, and Jeremy (Holly) Brand; 15 grandchildren; Alisha, Chyanne, Christa, Ashley, Christina, Chance, Jesse, Shawnie, Cassidy, Jessica, Caitlyn, Callee, Canyon, Morgan, Ryder. 35 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; her brother Kelly (Linda) Wade; sister Connie Olsen; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Brand; her mother, June Wade; her brothers, Michael Wade and David Peterson; her sister, Peggy Peterson; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law.

A special thanks to all those that extended love, care and compassion for our Mom over the years.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel, located at 1007 West South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will take place on Sunday, September 22, from 5:00–7:00 PM, and again on Monday from 10:00–10:45 AM prior to the service.

Joan’s legacy of love, strength, and devotion will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
