Joan Willmore Burgon

Joan Willmore Burgon, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother peacefully passed away from this life on November 20th, 2016 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Joan was born October 29th, 1939 in Logan, Utah to Ross and Alice Willmore. From her early years Joan was passionate about life and music which aided her in many opportunities teaching preschool for eighteen years, holding many positions in the church, and serving as an example to her six kids. Joan dedicated her life to serving others as an LDS missionary at the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center in San Diego, an adult leader in a BYU student Stake, and the Director of Volunteer Services at Alta View Hospital. There are countless lives who were touched by her compassion and service.
Joan married her eternal companion M. Kent Burgon on December 1st, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple and is blessed with 6 married children, 22 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Joan loved being a grandmother and was happiest when her home was full of family, noise, and laughter. Her example of love and dedication to the gospel will be an ensign to her posterity for generations to come.
Joan is proceeded in death by her parents, H. Ross and Alice Willmore.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Sunday, November 27th at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary located at 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah 84095. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 28th at the Alpine 3rd Ward located at 285 North Matterhorn Drive, Alpine, Utah 84004 (a viewing will be available from 9:30 – 10:30 AM prior to the services).
Interment will be in the Murray City Cemetery 5490 S. Vine St., Murray, Utah 84107 at 2:00 PM. Flowers can be sent to Jenkins-Soffee Mortuary or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Huntsman Cancer Foundation: https://donate.huntsmancancer.org
