An angel of this earth has left to join those in heaven.\nOur beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and best friend, JoAnn Pack Powell left this world to be with her beloved husband of 50 years, Gene Marvin Powell, at 5:42 pm on December 4, 2008. \nJoAnn was born on November 2, 1932 to Theron V. and Winona L. Pack in Salt Lake City. Gene and JoAnn were married on February 6, 1956 in Elko Nevada and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 15, 1967. \nJoAnn had been valiantly battling cancer but finally decided to join her husband in eternal rest. JoAnn graduated from East High School and LDS Business College. She then worked several years at the Walker Bank in Midvale, Valley Bank in Murray and Bingham High School. She was a devoted member of the LDS church and served in several positions over the years. Each year JoAnn worked many hours stitching hand-made gifts for her beloved family. These reminders of her love will be cherished for generations. \nJoAnn and Gene lived and raised 4 children in South Jordan and lived most of their life close to that area. JoAnn leaves behind 4 grateful children, Judy (Jerry) Wilkison, Kelly (Susan) Powell, Jay (Michelle) Powell and Melony (Mark) Lundgreen, 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 more precious bundles are on the way.\nPreceded in death by parents, brother Theron R. Pack, her husband’s parents and brothers and beloved husband.\nFuneral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 So.) in South Jordan. Viewing Friday evening also at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley from 6 – 8 pm and one hour prior to services.\nThe family wished to thank everyone at the Utah Cancer Specialists, Dr. Chandramouli, Dr. Hansen and everyone at the Rocky Mountain Hospice.
