To watch this service, please click on the link below. \r\n\r\n Click HERE to view Funeral Services for John Michaelsen\r\n\r\n\r\nJohn Michaelsen, age 91, passed away peacefully from natural causes Tuesday\r\nmorning July 27th with his wife and family by his side.\r\n\r\nJohn was born February 13th, 1930 in Ely, Nevada to Jorgen and Claire (Mills)\r\nMichaelsen. There he attended high school and later went on to serve in the Army as\r\na second lieutenant and was a paratrooper in Germany. He graduated from Utah State\r\nUniversity with a degree in Industrial Management and this is where he met his\r\nsweetheart Mary Alice (Graser) Michaelsen. They were married July 15th, 1961 in\r\nOgden, Utah and were later sealed in the Ogden, Utah Temple in 1979. They moved to\r\nKlamath Falls, Oregon where they raised their family and John enjoyed a long career\r\nwith the Union Pacific Railroad. They had three sons, Scott, Greg, and Brett\r\nMichaelsen. After retirement, John and his wife moved back to Utah in 2005.\r\n\r\nHe is preceded in death by his parents Jorgen and Claire (Mills) Michaelsen, son Brett\r\nMichaelsen and sister, Kay Mason. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice (Graser)\r\nMichaelsen, son Scott Michaelsen and son Greg Michaelsen.\r\n\r\nBesides being a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,\r\nJohn was a loyal family man and loved to watch his sons play sports. He was also\r\ninvolved in civics and served his community for many years as a volunteer firefighter\r\nand EMT. John’s absolute favorite pastime was attending the gym, and he rarely\r\nmissed a day. He remained physically fit his entire life and especially enjoyed a good\r\ngame of racquetball. John was also an avid reader on a wide variety of topics and was\r\nalways interesting to talk with. He loved visiting with neighbors and when the weather\r\nwas nice, was often found in his swing in the front yard. John always had a special way\r\nof making you feel welcomed. He was an example of love, loyalty, and devotion to\r\nthose around him, and his memory will be carried in our hearts forever.\r\n\r\nFriends and family are invited to attend funeral services which will be held Saturday,\r\nAugust 7th, 2021 at the LDS church on 5349 W. 9000 S. West Jordan, Utah.\r\nA viewing for family and friends will be held from 11:00-11:45. Funeral services will\r\nbegin at 12:00. Interment services will be held at the West Jordan Cemetery on 7925 South 1300 West.
