Johnnie Lee Nordin Obituary (1943 - 2023)

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Johnnie Lee Nordin, our dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, and uncle. Johnnie was born May 26, 1943, in Paris, Arkansas to Minnie Jane Grace and Sydnie Hedge Nordin. Johnnie was the youngest of nine children. His family lived in Arkansas until 1948 when they moved to Dragerton, Utah for his dad to work in the coal mines. Dad was five years old and Dragerton was never the same. He hit the streets running and made life-long friends. He lost his mother at an early age and missed her dearly. Johnnie married Lorretta McCourt in 1960. Soon after, he joined the United States Airforce. His basic training was in Lackland, Texas. He was stationed in Portland, Oregon, and Hillfield, Utah. He became a member of the military police and served our country for four years. Johnnie and Lorretta soon welcomed their four children: Lorri, Marty, Becci, and Clint. Johnnie and Lorretta later divorced. He worked for Kennecott Copper for 17 years as a Boilermaker Welder. He met and married his soulmate, Hughette Kenny, in 1999. They loved traveling the western United States, antiquing, and flipping houses. Hughette passed away in 2018 from pancreatic cancer. Dad was blessed with ten grandchildren: April, Dustin, Dallas, Johnathan, Nash, Ciera, Chase, CJ, Dalton, and Cheyenne. He had twenty great-grandkids. Dad suffered a stroke in October 2022. We were lucky enough to spend the last six months of his life caring for him in Tucson, AZ and Riverton, UT. He passed away on April 5, 2023. Johnnie was preceded in death by Hughette, his parents, his siblings, Syd, Mildred, Edna, Virginia (Nell), Betty, Bill and Ken, and his daughters, Becci Lewis and Cammi Smith. Dad is survived by his children, Lorri (Ron) Frame, Marty (Karen) Nordin, Clint (Heather) Nordin, and Trina Davis, his grandchildren, his sister, Pat Nordin Evans, his many nieces and nephews, and dear loving companion, Mary Swing. We would like to extend our deep appreciation to the wonderful staff at the Beehive House in Riverton and Sarah and Archie from Hospice of Utah. They are true angels who became family in a brief time due to their sincere love and support for Dad. We could not have done this without them. We will have a celebration of life when the weather warms up. Dad, you were loved by so many and will be deeply missed. ‘Til we meet again. XOXO
