Our beloved son, brother, and uncle, Jonah McArthur returned to his Father in Heaven after a bravely fought struggle with Muscular Dystrophy on September 22, 2023. Jonah was born on December 13, 2001, in Salt Lake City, UT to Jim and Jamie McArthur. Jonah grew up in South Jordan and graduated from Providence Hall High School and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Seminary program. He is a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and valiantly served a 2 year Service Mission, serving with others working on the church app and church leadership calendar.\n\nJonah loved spending time with family and going on vacations to Disneyland, Hawaii, Bear Lake, and St George, but especially to Disneyland. Jonah had a passion for collecting different things that he enjoyed, including Disney pins, Nightmare Before Christmas merch, and Funko Pops (he has over 400!). He also loved trying different foods and restaurants, his favorites being Tucano's and Duke's. He was a skilled video game player, with his favorite being Kingdom Hearts, which he played from an early age through the rest of his life. Jonah also enjoyed playing other online video games with his cousins. Walking his dogs, Charlie and Teddy, was a favorite activity for Jonah, and in recent years, playing with his niece and nephews gave him great joy. Jonah loved attending the temple and the beauty of the temples. He especially liked the Manti and San Diego temples. Most of all, Jonah was kind, loving, brave, independent, patriotic, and never turned down a hug. He lived his life with Muscular Dystrophy, but seldom complained about the challenges or difficulties he courageously faced.\n\nJonah is survived by his loving parents, Jim and Jamie McArthur; his sisters, Madi Jones (Rylee) and Cassie Kemp (Kayden); his nephews, Milo and Boston; and his niece, Harper; grandparents Dick and Janie McArthur and Ken and Janice Crookston; and many many aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him very much. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack McArthur and his cousin, Jake Crookston. The family would like to give special thanks to the Solstice Hospice team for their great love and care for Jonah. Thanks also to Primary Children's Hospital for all of the loving care provided to Jonah over the years.\n\nThe viewing will be held on Thursday, 28 Sep 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm MDT at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home in South Jordan and Friday, 29 Sep 2023 at 11:00am MDT at Country Crossing 8th Ward (11122 Blackhawk Drive). The funeral service will commence on Friday, 29 Sep 2023 at 12:00pm MDT at Country Crossing 8th Ward. For those who cannot attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available at https://my.gather.app/remember/jonah-mcarthur.\n\nWe invite you to leave your cherished memories and upload photos of Jonah on his memorial page. His story is not just about his departure from this world, but about the vibrant, loving life he led, the people he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind. Remembering Jonah is not about focusing on our loss, but celebrating the love, laughter, and light he brought into our lives.
