Joseph Dale Nielsen was born in Logan, Utah; the youngest of 6 children. He married Cleo (Pat) Olsen September 18, 1945 in the SL Temple. Together, they have 5 sons and 1 daughter.
Dale lived a long and productive life, a constant companion to his wife for 70 years. He was an exemplary father. He was an outstanding 6th grade teacher for many years in the Murray School District. He was an athlete, avid sportsman, loved hunting and fishing—especially with his sons. While family was his first love, his garden was a close second—a place of beauty for family and friends to enjoy. He taught his children to love nature and respect this beautiful earth Heavenly Father gave his children to enjoy and care for.
His life was centered around his LDS faith. He served in the bishopric in Green River, Wyoming for many years. He faithfully served in many Ward positions and loved his time serving as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple. He influenced the lives of many young men as he served as Scout Master for 12 years.
Preceded in death by his wife, Pat (by 7 weeks); son, Steven; granddaughter, Dani Hanson. Survived by his 5 children, Michael (Carol), Patty (Cody), Jody (Brenda), David and Jeff (Marcie).
A special thanks to Martina, his hospice nurse and the CNA's at the Assisted Living of Draper.
