Lehi, Utah
Junelle Palmer Lind passed away at age 85, after a short battle with liver cancer at her home in Lehi, Utah on August 24, 2023. Junelle was born on June 24, 1938 in Brigham City, Utah to Rudger Ernest and Letitia Ellen (Wight) Palmer. She was the fourth of their six children: Jim, Paul, Paula, Junelle, Lynn and Layne.
Junelle was raised on the family ranch in Rosette, Utah and had fond memories of ranch work, baby animals, church activities, and a close knit family and community. She attended school, through 8th grade, at Park Valley (Utah) School, then moved to Brigham City (Utah) where she lived with her grandmother and attended and graduated from Box Elder High School and LDS Seminary. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and enjoyed her new friends and spending time with her brothers, Jim and Paul.
During a 24th of July Celebration in Park Valley, Utah Junelle met Marvel Lind. They dated on and off for the next seven years. During that time, Junelle served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Central Atlantic States Mission. She grew to love the people of Wilmington and Greensboro, North Carolina and maintained lifelong friendships.
On April 7, 1965, Junelle and Marvel were married in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They started married life in Logan, Utah, then moved to Price, Utah and then on to Heyburn, Idaho where they raised their family, in close proximity to their extended family. Junelle served in numerous church callings including ward and stake organization presidencies. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing clothes, quilting, and family history. Marvel and Junelle loved to travel and visit friends and family. Through the years, Junelle visited 49 states and several foreign countries.
In later years, Junelle found great joy and purpose in handwork such as quilts, afghans, and baby items for current and future family. When the LDS Humanitarian Services was looking for volunteers to crochet leper bandages, she took up the challenge and provided over 150. She also spent years crocheting hats, blankets and burpers, doll blankets, and sewing hearts for Hearts Knit Together to benefit domestic violence shelters and refugees.
After 43 years in Heyburn, ID, it became necessary for Marvel and Junelle to move closer to family and medical professionals. For the next 12 years, they lived with Reed and Paula in South Jordan, UT, again creating lasting friendships. Their final move, in June 2021, was to BellaView Assisted Living in Lehi, UT. As a family, we offer a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at BellaView for their tender and thoughtful care of both Dad and Mom during these years, and particularly her last few days. We also sincerely appreciate the many years of attentive care, and friendship, from Dr. Michael D. Jones. Finally, thank you to Intermountain Hospice for their kindness and caring to Mom during her final days.
She is survived by her husband, Marvel, and her children, Paula (Reed) Beatse, Jennifer Lind, VaLayne (Kurt) Ostler, and John (LaRae) Lind. She is the proud grandmother of Spencer (Jennica) Ostler, Skylar (Oliver) Young, Zachary Ostler, Sarah Ostler, Wesley Lind, and Sean Lind. She is also survived by her brothers, Lynn (Lela) Palmer and Layne (Leilani) Palmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rud and Letitia Palmer; her siblings, Jim (Shirley) Palmer, Paul (Margaret) Palmer, Paula Palmer; her son, Robert Allen Lind; and her grandson, Thomas Ostler.
