Karen LaReen Lobrot (Carpenter) was born on July 28, 1937 to Thelma LaReen Timothy and Donald Lee Carpenter in Murray, UT. She married Gerald Rodger Lobrot, on December 20, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. She passed on to be with her sweetheart, Jerry, on May 15, 2020, surrounded by her family.

Mom grew up working hard on her family’s farm in Murray, UT. She was the oldest of five children who were also some of her best friends throughout her life. She attended Murray High School and was the first in her family to graduate from the University of Utah with a degree in accounting.

Mom and Dad lovingly raised us in Murray, Utah. They taught us the value of hard work, the fun of dune buggy/dirt bike adventures and the delicious taste of ice cream after special events. Mom loved to listen to Dad play the violin and to her children and grandchildren create music. She never missed a recital. Mom loved being a Grandma. She adored her grandchildren and loved to teach them the art of ceramics. She spent many happy hours planning and attending Carpenter family reunions and Christmas parties with her siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mom cherished being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She especially enjoyed getting together with her local DUP. She worked in the Jordan River and Salt Lake Temples for many years. She served as stake Young Women’s president and Ward Relief Society president among many callings.

Mom loved to see the world. She traveled in her later years to Peru, Israel, The Baltic Region and Europe. She especially loved traveling to Wisconsin to see her daughter LeAnn and grandkids, as well as to Florida to visit her grandson, Ryan.

Mom made a loving, positive impression in the lives of the many people she worked with in both business and church. She loved her family fiercely. We will always feel her love and think of her with joy. Mom, please give Dad and Rodg a big hug for us!

Mom is survived by her daughter, LaReen Judd (Mark), son Reed (Stephanie), daughter LeAnn (Jason Joyner), siblings Donnalee (Walt), Connie (Lynn), Robert (Susan), Marion (Evan) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Rodger Gerald Lobrot.

We would like to extend our love and gratitude to all of mom's friends and family for so many years of happiness! Thanks also to the kind staff at Cedarwood at Sandy.
