South Jordan, Utah
Karin Martha Kyle Bybee Gregson, Age 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep Sept 30th 2024 in South Jordan, Utah as a result of Parkinson’s Disease. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to Lorne Burnett Kyle and Lillian Gerda Oquist Kyle. She married Richard (“Dick”) Charles Blake Bybee on September 5, 1964 in the Los Angeles Temple. She married Hugh Sennott Gregson on April 28 2018.
She graduated from McGee High School in Vancouver BC Canada and attended Brigham Young University in Provo Utah where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Their oldest child Peter, was born in Provo.
After graduation, Dick and Karin moved to Everett, Washington, where their children Heather, Ariel, Kyle and Bradford were born. Dick’s career took them to Fountain Valley and then Newbury Park in Southern California, where they raised their family. Karin loved her years with her little children, especially when she read to them and when they went on camping trips throughout the West. The teenage years were busy and at times challenging, as one would expect with 5 outgoing and lively kids.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she had many opportunities to serve. Her favorites were visiting teaching, serving in the Young Women Presidency, and being a Scout Leader. Karin enjoyed her 18-year career teaching elementary school in Newbury Park. This was one of the biggest pleasures of her life. Kids and their parents counted themselves lucky to have her as their teacher. After retirement and moving to South Jordan Utah, she and Dick served a mission in the Chicago South Mission as Church Employment missionaries.
After Dick died in Oct 2015 she had happy years married to Hugh Gregson, as they enjoyed travelling, visiting family and friends, participating in their ward, and living in St George Utah. Hugh and his family welcomed Karin is as one of their own and gave her all the love kindness she deserved.
She is survived by their children: Peter (Gayle Woolsey), Heather Freeborne (Jay), Ariel Morillo (Danilo), Kyle (Katie Grant), Brad (Nicole Sines), Brother: Kenneth Lorne Kyle (Lorna Smith) of Lethbridge Alberta Canada and Lorna Sigrid Kyle Boot (Robert) of Rexburg Idaho. She had 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was adored by her grandchildren and was very involved in their lives.
Funeral services will be held at the Rushton View 4th Ward building, Saturday October 12th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. 3760 West Rushton View Drive, South Jordan, Utah. The burial will be at the South Jordan City Cemetery, 10650 S. 1055 W. Utah.
