Our dear father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Karl Fredrick Henricksen, 91, was reunited with his sweetheart as he returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on November 22, 2008, in South Jordan, Utah.\n\nKarl was born January 26, 1917, in Salt Lake City to Mary Ingrid Johanson and Neils Jacob Henricksen. He married Ramona Read, his fifth grade sweetheart and best friend, on June 17, 1938, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They shared 39 wonderful years of marriage together prior to her passing in 1977. Their lives were blessed with five children who were nurtured by their love and examples. Karl lived and worked in Salt Lake and Boise prior to his retirement from the Missouri Pacific/Union Pacific Railroad in 1979. After his retirement, he lived in St. George and returned to Salt Lake in 1993 to be closer to his children. \n\nDad was a faithful, devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who served in the extraction program in Boise and St. George for 15 years and served in the temple for over 22 years. He was a man of honor, who exemplified complete faith, honesty, and truthfulness. \n\nHe will long be remembered for his caring devotion to his dear Ramona and his dedication to his family. Dad was an avid golfer who earned three hole-in-one trophies, enjoyed watching sports of any kind, and always enjoyed keeping a well-manicured yard and an orderly home. \n\nKarl is survived by his children, Cheryl (Ben) Bunderson; Marvin, Marilyn (Robert) Barraclough, Ronald (Julie); nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Karl was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona, his son, Steven, his parents, brothers, and sisters.\n\nThe Henricksen family expresses its gratitude and thanks for the kind, gentle care and friendship given to him by Legacy House of South Jordan, Care Source Hospice, and the Legacy House LDS Branch.\n\nFuneral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S.), South Jordan. A viewing will be held from 12:00 -1:45 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home prior to services. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
