Karl Hans Willi Jessen, age 86, passed away on June 25, 2011 in Riverton, Utah.\n\nHe was born on October 1, 1924 in Flensburg, Germany to Henny Marie Caroline (Karstensen) and Carl Christian Nicolaus Jessen. He served in the German Army during World War II.\n\nKarl immigrated to the United States in 1954, was an active soccer player and involved with the Alemania Soccer Club. He married Hannelore Jacobi on March 5, 1955. They had three sons, Kai, Frank, and Raymond.\n\nKarl worked for Salt Lake Hardware Company for over 25 years as a buyer. He also worked for Stover Bedding Company concurrently part time in the carpenter shop and continued to work at this company as it transitioned to Spring Air in 2004.\n\nKarl is survived by his sons, Kai, Frank (Sylvia), Raymond (LeighAn); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Elga Layton (Dean), and Gertrude Estey (David). He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and sister, Dora Lange.\n\nA viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Murray City Cemetery, 5600 S.
