Katherine Ferne Porter Thomas, age 87, died on December 23, 2005, from pneumonia following a stroke. \n\nKay was born in Stettler, Alberta, Canada on June 19, 1918 to Gail Raymond Porter and Phyllis Vera Tate Porter. She served in the U.S. Air Force prior to meeting and marrying the love of her life, Richard LaVon Thomas. She was released from the military with the rank of Captain. Kay served faithfully in many LDS church callings, including serving 23 years as a temple worker at the Jordan River Temple.\n\nKay is preceded in death by both of her parents and one grandson, Robbie Jenson. She is survived by her husband, her 5 children, Dixie Jenson (Gary), Allan Thomas (Diane), Carol Lowman (Dan), Barbara Culligan (Rick) and Linda Ames (Arlo), 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 5 great, great \ngrandchildren.\n\nFuneral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest LDS Ward house (435 E. 5600 So.) Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary (4760 So. State Street) or from 12–12:45 p.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment at Redwood Memorial Estates.
