Katherine E. Mauss Gustafson Obituary (1939 - 2011)

“Together Forever”Katherine E. Mauss Gustafson joined her eternal companion on May 14, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was diagnosed with the incurable disease P.S.P.(Progressive Supranuclear Palsy), which she faced with grace and courage.She was born January 4, 1939 to Alma and Therza Mauss. She graduated from Olympus High School where she met her eternal sweetheart, Dean Gustafson. They were married Oct. 24, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their love for each other was an example for all. When dad passed away 5 1/2 years ago she missed him greatly and now they are together forever.Her greatest joy was her family. Mom’s love for her family will carry on through the many traditions she started; Cookie Day, Sunday and birthday dinners, family parties, and memorable trips. Her love, compassion, and kindness were felt by everyone that entered her home. She had a gentle way of making everyone feel special and loved.She had a great love for the Savior and because of that she taught us how to love and serve others through her perfect example. She served in many ward and stake callings. She worked at Utah Oil Workers Credit Union retiring in 2004 as the Vice President.Survived by her children; Jody (Brenda), Charilyn Gustafson, Scott (Susan), and Natalie (Mike) Argyle, 15 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Dean Gustafson, parents, and sisters Carolyn Snow and Linda Kelsey.A viewing will be held Friday, May, 20 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Jenkins Soffe Mortuary 1007 West South Jordan Parkway (10500 So.), South Jordan. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21 at 11:00 A.M. with a visitation held prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30 at Westland LDS Chapel located at 3200 W. 7100 So. Interment will follow at the Murray Cemetery.
