Kathleen Michelle Ogrin
December 10,1985-September 10, 2026
With profound sadness and immense love, we announce the passing of our loved one, Kathleen, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, following a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Born and raised in Murray, Utah, Kathleen was a lifelong Utahn who found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for the outdoors. She loved playing volleyball, camping, hiking, and exploring the incredible national parks with her family and loved ones, and was always ready for the next adventure and cherished the memories made along the way.
Kathleen was also a devoted University of Utah fan and never missed a football game. She attended the University of Utah, where she pursued her passion for weather and earned her degree in Atmospheric Science. Her love of weather became part of who she was, and she quickly became everyone’s go-to person for the forecast. Whether it was planning a vacation, a camping trip, or simply deciding what to wear, someone could always count on Kathleen to know what the weather had in store.
Her love of learning and her caring nature eventually led her to Utah State University, where she earned her teaching degree. She found great fulfillment in working with children and dedicated her career to teaching third and fourth grade at McMillan Elementary. She cared deeply about her students and the impact she could have on their lives. Teaching was more than a profession to her—it was another way she shared her kindness, patience, and love with others.
Above all else, Kathleen treasured her family. She loved family gatherings, celebrating every occasion, taking vacations together, and simply being surrounded by the people she loved. Family was at the center of her life, and she created countless memories that will be cherished forever.
She married the love of her life, Alan, who was her partner, best friend, and constant source of love and support. They shared a beautiful life together and loved doing everything side by side. Alan stood beside her through every chapter of her journey and helped her pursue and accomplish so many of her dreams. Their love and devotion to one another was truly special.
When Kathleen was diagnosed with brain cancer, she faced an incredibly difficult journey with remarkable courage. Through treatments, setbacks, and uncertainty, she continued to choose positivity and continued living her life. She found reasons to laugh, to spend time with the people she loved, to make memories, and to look forward to the things that brought her joy. Her strength, optimism, and determination throughout her illness were an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
Kathleen leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, memories, and adventures. Though her time with us was far too short, the impact she made on her family, friends, students, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her will remain.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Alan Romney; her parents, Mike and Colleen Ogrin; her sister and best friend, Christina Ogrin; and her beloved dog, Kinja. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rudy and Christina Ogrin and Ben and Ruth Morris.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, oncology team, and caregivers at Intermountain Health and Symbii Health and Hospice for the compassion, dedication, and care they provided to Kathleen throughout her illness. Their kindness and support meant more to our family than words can express.
Kathleen will be deeply missed and forever loved. We will carry her with us on every mountain we explore, every camping trip, every University of Utah game, every weather forecast, every family celebration, and in all the little moments that remind us of her.
Her journey here may have ended, but the love she gave us never will.
A celebration of Kathleen’s life will be held on October 4, 2026 from 4:30pm-7pm at Murray Park Pavilion 4, 296 E. Murray Park Ave. Murray Utah, 84107. Entrance off of Vine Street.
