Kathyleen Uina Vakapuna Paipa Obituary (1994 - 2021)

Our beloved daughter, sister and aunt Kathyleen Uina Vakapuna Paipa, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on July 30, 2021 in North Salt Lake City, UT Veisinia Uina Vakapuna and Semisi Vakapuna welcomed their eighth child, Kathyleen, into this world on June 19, 1994. Our beautiful Kathy loved to sing. Her favorite song was “Reflection” from the Disney movie Mulan, in which she memorized every word of. Her favorite music group was Bone Thugs N Harmony. Her love for reading was impressive. In the fifth grade, Kathy read all 7 Harry Potter books and as many know, those books are not the shortest. Kathy was the biggest Utah Jazz Basketball fan. Kathy was known as being a social butterfly who easily became friends with those she encountered and could easily turn a bad situation into a joke. Her bright beautiful smile and loud laugh will be truly missed. Kathy met the love of her life, Inoke Paipa, in Texas in 2010. In 2013 they started dating and sealed the deal on May 15, 2015 in the Dallas Texas LDS Temple for all time and eternity. Kathy and Inoke loved each other so much. They were inseparable! Kathy worked for American Airlines as a pilot crew scheduler in the Operations Department. She enjoyed the benefits of flying so that she could attend family events across the country. She worked there since moving to Texas after their marriage until 2020 when the Covid-19 Pandemic hit the world. Kathy and Inoke relocated to back to Utah in November of 2020, which was a huge blessing in disguise. On Christmas Eve of 2020, Kathy was diagnosed with Stage 4 Uterine Cancer. Since that day she fought so hard until the Lord called her home on July 30, 2021. She is survived by: Her husband, Inoke Paipa, Her parents: Semisi and Veisinia Uina Vakapuna. Her siblings: Taufui-e-valu Vakapuna (Leonne), Fainga Vakapuna (Kesa), Tauni Vakapuna (Taynia), Manulua Vakapuna Tuitupou (Manisela), Elenoa Vakapuna Vailala (Lolohea), Analolohea Vakapuna Mafi (Setefano), David Taylor Vakapuna (Eti). Kathy’s nieces and nephews were her pride and joy. Her little namesake Kathy Jazz held a soft spot in her heart. Kathyleen Uina Vakapuna Paipa will be sorely missed by all.
